The bells will ring out. The organ will play. It should be the happiest days of their lives. But Carol Brennan and David Cousins are in for a shock, and so are their wedding “guests” at All Saints Church, Dulverton, on 15th June. The Dulverton Players are staging “Murder at the Marriage”, another of their popular Murder Mystery Evenings, created by Winsford writer, Richard Hall.
Even the cast will be as much in the dark as the audience. Each actor will know no more than the information contained in a sealed envelope which previously he or she has received. The whole company will be launching on a journey into the unknown.
The audience, however, may rest assured that they will have the chance to enjoy a glass of wine and the wedding breakfast while it tries to puzzle out whodunit. Tickets will be £10 each to include the meal and a glass of wine. It will be 7.00 pm for 7.30 pm for the “guests”, and only the bride is allowed to be a little bit late. This is a unique occasion as there can be only one performance. Tickets are strictly limited and must be secured in advance from the Post Office, Dulverton Tel 01398 323474. The Players’ production of “Cinderella” was sold out in advance for all its four performances, and so early booking is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment.
Plans are well-advanced for the Dulverton Players’ major production of “Calendar Girls” in the autumn. Anyone hoping for a part should keep 23rd June and 1st July free when the auditions will be held. The first rehearsal is scheduled for 5th August. Further details from the director, John Thorogood, who has copies of the script available for reading. Tel: 01398 323425. Email: johntvicar@btinternet.com
